Happy New Year!!!

Christmas orders are done with; now for the New Year. We are planning a trip to Florida soon to visit friends but ALSO to do seven more universities in Florida if all goes as planned. We're also trying to focus on art fairs & shows for the coming year, deciding what to try for and what to let go of. Hope you all had a great year and continue to check our web site when you need to order something or ask about new universities & colleges that you might be interested in. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Remaining Shows....

Looks like we only have a few shows left for the year, where has it gone?? We leave for Nashville, TN next week for the Christmas Village Show. At the same time, my sister will run our booth at the St. Luke's Methodist Church show in Indianapolis on the 14th. That's a nice, one day show, if you've never been. Rich has completed Carson-Newman & Freed-Hardeman, both in TN; he's got so many to complete before Christmas. He's also been working on an idea for our booth, so that will be ready for the Nashville show. I'm working on cat portraits and organizing things for the shows. Must paint and feed cats.....;) rebecca

Off to Chantilly

Leaving for Chantilly, VA for Gilmore Craftsmen show this weekend. It's dreary out and being indoors at a show will be nice. We will be going there with more new schools. Siena College, Mount Holyoke, Univ. of Oregon, Univ. of Washington, Washington State, Regis and several more. I lose count! We recently made a trip to Nashville, TN and Wichita, KS and did schools along the way. Soon, very soon, we'll have Un. of TN @Chattanooga; Carson-Newman and Lee Univ. in TN; Tabor, Friends & Southwestern in KS will be later.......

What's new....

A few schools are done: Oregon State University. Hanover College has been revised and is done; Bellarmine University has been revised and is done. Regis College is done. Problem is, there are about 25 more new ones waiting to be printed....

We will be at the Chauttauqua Arts Festival in Madison, IN this weekend. Let's hope the weather holds out and it doesn't rain on us. Our booths are on Broadway, a few booths down from the information tent, in the middle of the street. I think our booth numbers are #808 and #807...

The Mellwood show last weekend in Louisville wasn't so good. For one thing, with it being the same weeekend as Penrod now, we won't do it again because of that. Penrod is SO good that we can't slight it again by doing 2 shows at one time. We were a little tired after that weekend!

Penrod

We're getting ready for Penrod, which is Sept. 12. At the same time, we'll have a booth at the new September Art Fair at Mellwood (Mellwood Art Center) in Louisville, KY.

Vacation......

Guess I know what Rich will be doing on vacation....He has about 16 universities and colleges to put together! Even more waiting to be developed so that he has the photos to work with. Cord Camera loves him! He probably takes between 100 - 200 photos per school...then fits them altogether to get the final image for the print. He enjoys the process, he does it all manually, laying it out by hand, he's a visual type of guy. People ask if he does it all by photo shop, and I have to tell them that he doesn't do much with a computer, he barely knows how to turn one on...and does not type well at all.....

Mission accomplished!

As promised, we have just returned from the trip which took us through 6 states, including N&S Dakota and we walked 13 schools. I will include them in the list to the right. Remember, these won't be completely done for awhile, but some will be done before Christmas. Everything went pretty smoothly, it only rained one day....if you need rain, just ask us to visit, it seems to follow us around. Rich caught a cold so he wasn't feeling great through most of the trip. A lot of road construction and also construction on the schools that we visited. There are fewer students walking the campus in the summer but a lot of rebuilding going on.

Next Trip

Our next trip is scheduled. We're going to North & South Dakota. This is new territory for us, having never been there. When this is accomplished, we will have been in 48 states. Along the way, we'll add some more schools in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I will list the schools later.

Ann Arbor Art Fair

Thanks to all who stopped by our booth at Ann Arbor. We had a great time and hope you did too. We handed out tons of business cards, sold lots of university prints and had great food! Weather was awesome too....who would have thought we'd wear jackets on Saturday as it was quite cool for that time of year and a bit breezy. On to Traverse City this next weekend......

Ann Arbor Art Fair

The Ann Arbor Art Fair is always the "event". We are doing well, sales are good and it seems like the crowd has picked up since last year. Our booth is in the Liberty Street Courtyard area which is off of Liberty Street, #A-5. Seems like this area has changed it's name almost every year since the new manager took over a few years ago. It used to be called "King's Chosen" and actually, we liked that. The university prints are selling well. The food here is wonderful. We have dinner at a vegetarian place called Seva every night. And breakfast and lunch (great salad bar) at Afternoon Delight. There are so many great places to eat. The hours of the show are long (10am-9pm) but it's worth it.

New Web Site

Also, take a look at our web site at www.RichTraditionsArt.com to see our complete listing of all the schools that we have so far. Our new site just went up and we're really excited about it. It's taken a long time to get it ready and we want to thank Hal, who did this for us.

Where we are

We are traveling throughout the northwest right now. This is an area in which we haven't been at all and we are adding about 25 new universities and colleges in Washington, Oregon, Utah and Idaho and if time allows, we are also going back to California to get a few more done. I think we've walked about 70 miles so far! I will post the schools later that we have done, but just to name a few, Univ. of Washington, Washington State, Utah and Utah State, Oregon and Oregon State, Portland and Portland State and Seattle. Lots more to do!
